How ironic and hypocritical that the town of Amherst has renamed Columbus Day as Indigenous Peoples Day. If the town and people who agree with this decision want to do something other than a back-patting, feel-good gesture, rename the town and the college. To quote someone in the front-page “Goodbye, Columbus” article, “We celebrate a genocide. It’s horrible we celebrate something like that.” Hello, Lord Jeffery Amherst.
