The Gateway Regional and Hopkins Academy girls soccer teams combined for three goals during a six-minute span in the second half.

The Gators netted the final one and hung on for a 2-1 victory, Wednesday in Huntington.

Rebecca Hyjek struck from 18 yards out, using her right foot to find the left side of the net and break a 1-1 tie for the Gators (11-2-1, 8-1-1 Pioneer North). Rachel Walzak had an assist 33 minutes into the second.

Samantha Jenks found Gabby Dyjach in a crowd two minutes early as the Golden Hawks (5-11-0, 1-9-0) tied the game.

Peyton Bucko took a corner kick for Gateway 27 minutes into the second. She found Ava Auclair, who headed a shot for the first goal.

Rebecca Herman made two saves in the win.

Gabby Palmisano had three saves for Hopkins.

Field hockey

Frontier Regional 3, East Longmeadow 0 — Lily Spencer and Olivia Vecellio helped each other on their goals as the Red Hawks (10-5-3, 6-2-2 Valley league) closed the regular season with a win.

Emily DeMaio also scored, while Skyla Burniske made five saves for the shutout.

Belchertown 4, Pioneer 0 — The Orioles (9-4-2, 7-0 Tri-County) received goals from Hailey Boutin, Kaleigh Cooper, Ashley Messier and Arianna Piedra in the road win.

Goalie Abigail Rothstein made four saves.

Girls volleyball

Chicopee 3, Belchertown 0 — Marissa Courchesne had six kills and two aces, while Allison Cote added eight assists, but the Orioles (5-14) fell 25-5, 25-10, 25-22 on the road.

Commerce 3, Smith Vocational 1 — The Vikings fell 25-20, 25-20, 23-25, 25-17 on the road.

Boys soccer

Sabis 6, Smith Academy 0 — Ryan Belina made 12 saves for the Falcons (5-11, 1-8 McGrath), who fell behind 3-0 en route to the road loss.

Correction

The records for the Belchertown and Frontier Regional boys cross country team were incorrectly reported in Wednesday’s Gazette.

Frontier finished 15-0 overall in the regular season, 7-0 in the Pioneer North. Hampshire Regional finished 11-1 overall, 9-0 in the Pioneer South.
