Vote ‘yes’ on Question 3

Massachusetts voters will see Question 3 on their ballot on Nov. 6. Question 3 seeks to repeal protections signed into law in 2016 that assure that transgender people cannot be discriminated against in public places, including restrooms, locker rooms, restaurants, stores, and medical offices. Unfortunately, now there is an effort to roll back those protections. At Cooley Dickinson, we have been loud and clear about our commitment to serving all in our community, regardless of gender identity or anything that may lead to discrimination. Our commitment extends to wanting to protect marginalized communities from discrimination anywhere. We know that to be healthy, people need to be accepted and embraced throughout their life. Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia or any other bias (intentional or unconscious) is inconsistent with being able to lead a healthy life, physically and mentally. Not having equal access to public spaces will only make it harder to seek care and services.

A “yes” vote will preserve current protections against discrimination for our transgender friends, coworkers and family members. We urge Massachusetts residents to vote “yes” on Question 3.
