HATFIELD — A company interested in operating a cannabis manufacturing and processing facility at a site on Routes 5 and 10 comes before the Planning Board for a special permit and site plan approval Wednesday.
The hearing for Treeworks, which is interested in operating at 3 West St., begins at 6:30 p.m. at Hatfield Memorial Town Hall. The property is owned by Jon and Lori Zapka of Williamsburg and is the site of Zapka’s Garden Center, which is adjacent to the Smithsonina Cafe and Chowderhouse.
According to Treeworks’ application, the company would sell the products made on site to dispensaries and retail outlets throughout the state.
Among the products that could be manufactured at the Hatfield location are edible gummies, a pain salve that is a non-psychoactive cream for achy joints and sore muscles, and tinctures, which are medicinal cannabinoid liquids.
Treeworks already held a community meeting in August as a requirement of their application to be licensed by the state’s Cannabis Control Commission.
Also on the agenda for the Planning Board’s meeting is a request from Goggins Real Estate for a change in use for the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church at 79 Main St., a property that is on the market following the merger of the town’s two Catholic churches several years ago.
