SUNDERLAND – The town will replace 63 street lights with LED lights by the end of December.

Sunderland Town Administrator Sherry Patch said all town-owned street lights will be removed and replaced with new ones purchased from Eversource and installed by Pine Ridge Technologies Inc. She said the lights are tentatively scheduled to be installed between Nov. 20 to Dec. 20. The lights cost $5,196.86, according to Patch. They are being designed by RealTerm Energy

“They’re just finishing up design now,” said Patch. “So I think we’re in good shape so as long as everything is good on the contractor’s end.”

The new lights are expected to result in $22,515 in energy savings for Sunderland.

Money for the project comes from a Metropolitan Area Planning Council grant. According to information from the MAPC, the materials cost $13,492 and the labor will run $4,410. Patch said the $5,196.86 will come from town capital funds.
