AMHERST — A water main break on Saturday morning flooded several basements on Carriage Lane.
The break occurred at about 8 a.m., Amherst police Lt. Brian Johnson said, but the flooding was limited to Carriage Lane. The water main break happened near the intersection of Carriage and Pomeroy Lanes.
Johnson said he did not have the total amount of basements flooded, and as of 12:30 p.m., the Department of Public Works and the Amherst Fire Department were still working on pumping out the water from the basements.
