The Amherst College men’s basketball team held off a late Springfield rally to beat the Pride, 76-67, Tuesday in Springfield.
Eric Sellew had 17 points and nine rebounds, while Grant Robinson added 12 points and seven boards. Fru Che (12 points) and Joseph Schneider (10 points) also reached double figures.
Cam Earle and Jake Ross carried the Pride. Earle (South Hadley) had 20 points on 8 of 15 shooting, while Ross (Northampton) had 18 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals.
Springfield trailed by as much as 18 points, but cut the deficit to six with 1:44 left.
Simmons 71, Mount Holyoke 37 — Annika Brooks had 13 points and Katlyn Grover added 12, but the Lyons (0-11) fell on the road.
Mikayla McEwen (South Hadley) had 11 rebounds.
