We are writing in appreciation of the employees of the Amherst Public Works Water Department.
Recently, there was a water main break on our street, which led to a valve malfunction and a water outage for us. The crew, six of whom we personally interacted with, were skilled and considerate, as well as creative problem-solvers. They diagnosed the problem and fixed it quickly; they delayed only long enough to notify others in our area of the required water shut-off. Until that was done, they provided a temporary water source via hose from a neighbor who still had water and graciously agreed to share it with us.
We feel very fortunate to have such knowledgeable and considerate town workers, as well as very nice neighbors, in Amherst.
