Hannah Fox broke the Amherst College women’s basketball single-game scoring record with 43 points as the Mammoths defeated Westfield State, 104-79, in the D3Hoops.com Invitational in Las Vegas on Friday.
Fox was 19-for-25 from the floor and accomplished the feat with only one 3-pointer and four foul shots. Fox also added 12 rebounds for the fourth-ranked Mammoths (7-1).
Fox scored 16 points in the opening 10 minutes as the Mammoths led 30-20. She added 10 more points in the second quarter and 12 in the third, breaking the previous record of 37 before the fourth even began.
Amherst led 52-36 at the break. Westfield State (4-6) was led by 24 points from Lucy Barrett.
Madeline Eck added 18 points for Amherst. Cam Hendricks added 10 points. Kate Sullivan had six points, four assists and two steals off the Amherst bench.
Chelsea Moussette (Southampton) had five points, four assists and three steals for the Owls.
