Hannah Fox had a game-high 25 points as the Amherst College women’s basketball team jumped out early and beat Trinity, 71-49, Friday in Hartford, Connecticut.

The Mammoths (11-1, 1-0 NESCAC) led 25-11 after the first quarter and never looked back.

Madeline Eck added 19 points. Maeve McNamara had 10 points with Meghan Sullivan (Granby) chipping in with eight points and three rebounds.

Men’s basketball

Amherst 84, Trinity 55 — Grant Robinson had a game-high 19 points and eight assists, while Eric Sellew added 12 and 10, respectively, as the Mammoths (10-1, 1-0 NESCAC) won their conference opener at LeFrak Gymnasium.

Fru Che added 15 points and six rebounds.

Men’s hockey

Amherst 6, Bowdoin 3 — Joey Lupo had two goals and one assist, and Patrick Daly had three assists as the Mammoths (4-4-2, 2-2-2 NESCAC).

Phil Johansson and Noah Gilreath had a goal and an assist apiece at Orr Rink.

Women’s hockey

Amherst 1, Middlebury 1 (OT) — Jocelyn Hunyadi’s first-period goal could not stand as the Mammoths (4-4-2, 1-2-2 NESCAC) tied on the road.
