Sophia Jacobs-Townsley started the new year off with a win.
The Amherst Regional senior won the early session 2-mile at the third PVIAC indoor track & field meet of the season, Friday at Smith College.
Jacobs-Townsley won in 11 minutes, 29.84 seconds to lead the Hurricanes, who were swept by Holyoke, 38-35, and Central, 70-20.
The Amherst boys split, beating Central, 54-32, but losing to Holyoke, 52-42.
Junior Pontes da Veiga took first overall in the 55-meter dash in 6.72 seconds.
Amherstโs 4×200 relay won in 1:37.43.
The South Hadley girls swept Sci-Tech (85-8) and Baystate Academy (89-1) in the late session. The boys squad also swept, beating Baystate (69-16) and Sci-Tech (65-21).
Jocelyne Rondeau took first overall in the 600 (1:46.31) for the Tigers. Lindsay Marjanski was first in both the 55 hurdles (9.29) and the high jump (5 feet, 3 inches). Savannah Sudyka won the shot put in 35-1.
South Hadley freshman Jonas Clark won the 55 dash (6.68).
