AMHERST — John R. Kasich, the outgoing governor of Ohio and former presidential candidate in 2016, will be speaking at Amherst College on Feb. 7.
The event is open to the public, and will take place at Johnson Chapel at 8 p.m.
Kasich, a Republican, was recently hired as a senior political commentator by CNN after completing his second term in office as Ohio’s governor. Prior to running for president in 2016, Kasich served in Congress for 18 years until 2001. While in Congress, he served as chairman of the House Budget Committee and also on the House Armed Services Committee. He is a former managing director at Lehman Brothers.
Kasich, 66, has authored four best-selling books and was born in McKees Rocks, Pa., a suburb of Pittsburgh. He lives in Westerville, Ohio, with his wife and their twin daughters.
