Whoa, Joe Gannon, not so fast. Thinking that the population of the U.S. is all going “progressive” is more of the same kind of myopia that has gotten us into this mess. If the Democrats play to their most faithful base in the primaries, it is entirely possible that there would be four more years of Donald, or whomever replaces him after impeachment. Swerving to the left and right, as the semitruck of our government travels down the highway of time, is just going to further the intractable situation in which we are now situated. What is needed now, and in the future, is compromise that represents all of the citizens of the United States, not just whomever has the most votes in Congress.
