The Amherst College women’s basketball team trailed after the first quarter to Farmingdale State.

The deficit didn’t last.

The Mammoths held the Rams to 11 combined points in the second and third quarters en route to a 78-37 victory, Tuesday in East Farmingdale, New York.

Courtney Resch led Amherst with 17 points off the bench. Reserve Dani Valdez added 13 points and nine rebounds.

Maeve McNamara had 13 points and Hannah Fox 10 for Amherst (16-1).

Smith 75, Williams 61 — The Pioneers (13-5) jumped out to a 20-10 lead after the first quarter en route to the win in Northampton.

Kennedy Guest-Pritchett had 28 points and 18 rebounds, while Lauren Bondi had 18 points and Katy McClellan 15 for Smith.

Springfield 75, Mount Holyoke 22 — Katlyn Grover had nine points and Annika Brooks added 12 rebounds for the Lyons (1-17, 0-9 NEWMAC).

Men’s basketball

Amherst 82, Eastern Connecticut State 61 — Eric Sellew had 21 points and 13 boards, while Grant Robinson had 19 points for the Mammoths (14-2).

Women’s hockey

Amherst 3, Norwich 1 — Kaitlin Hoang and Emma Flynn each had a goal and an assist as the Mammoths (9-5-2, 5-3-2 NESCAC) won in Northfield, Vermont.
