The Northampton boys basketball team lost its third consecutive game Tuesday, falling 67-55 against Putnam at home.
Michael McCarthy scored 20 points to lead the Blue Devils (6-8, 0-4 Valley), who dropped to 0-4 in league play. They’re the only Division 2 team in the top league in Western Massachusetts.
Putnam made 10 3s led by six from Rudy Hytmiah, who scored 20 points.
Jaeden Johndrow joined McCarthy in double figures with 12 points. He made six free throws.
Anthony DeJesus added seven points for the Blue Devils.
Northampton hit 20 free throws as a team. McCarthy made six free throws, and Dillon Diemand hit four from the free-throw line.
The Blue Devils trailed 15-9 after the first quarter and couldn’t pull closer to the Beavers.
Putnam shut the door with a 23-18 advantage in the fourth quarter.
The game was played two hours earlier than originally scheduled because of inclement weather.
