Nathaniel Jones was third on giant slalom as the Northampton boys alpine ski team finished second in the North during the fifth PVIAC meet of the season, Tuesday at Berkshire East in Charlemont.

Jones finished in 24.59 seconds, and teammate Benjamin Delacour was 11th (25.82) to lead the Blue Devils (110.61 seconds). Mohawk was first in the North (106.67).

Hampshire Regional was third (113.43) in the South. Edward Przybyla was fifth overall in 25.16, but first among skiers from the South, to pace the Raiders. Dawson Kelly was 16th overall (seventh in the South) in 26.63 for Hampshire.

James Scott, of Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter School, cracked the top 20 with a 19th-place finish in 27.43.

In the girls slalom race, Northampton teammates Ellie Mahoney and Abbie Denhary were fifth (35.91) and ninth (37.38) overall, respectively.

Juliet Scott, of PVCICS, was eighth (37.15) and Jessica Garriepy, of Gateway Regional, was 10th (38.82).

Areia Heilman, of Frontier, was 12th (39.91) and Talya Gilman-Solomon, of Hampshire, was 15th (40.39). Ella Gander, of PVCICS, finished 18th (41.20), followed by Gateway’s Isabel Beaudry (41.61).

Northampton (175.37) finished second behind Mohawk (150.75) in the North. Hampshire (207.05) was runner-up to East Longmeadow (191.44) in the South.
