The UMass women’s basketball team went 3-for-4 from the free-throw line in the final 38 seconds of a 69-66 win over Duquesne, Thursday at the Mullins Center.
Jessica George went 1-for-2 with 38 seconds left to put the Minutewomen up 67-62, and Hailey Leidel sealed the win with two free throws with 23 seconds left.
Leidel led UMass (12–1, 4-5 Atlantic 10) with 16 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.
The Minutewomen trailed by nine with 45 seconds left in the first half, but rallied with 29 points in the third quarter. They used a 10-3 run to take a 46-41 lead with 2:04 left in the quarter.
George and Vashnie Perry both had 11 points. Bre Hampton-Bey and Destiney Philoxy scored nine each.
UMass had 28 points off turnovers, 26 points in the paint and 13 second-chance points. The Minutewomen grabbed 21 offensive rebounds.
