HADLEY — A bus carrying Hadley Elementary School students was rear-ended by a passenger car on Route 9 stopped at a red light near the Texas Roadhouse restaurant Monday morning, according to a memo issued by School Superintendent Annie McKenzie.
The crash, which occurred at 8:15 a.m., caused minor damage to the tailpipe on the bus and substantial damage to the car.
Both Hadley Police and Fire departments, along with Action EMS ambulance, responded to the scene. McKenzie said all students were checked by paramedics and transferred to another bus to get to school.
McKenzie said Principal Jennifer Dowd would be calling the parents of all children to notify them about the crash.
Hadley Police Lt. Mitchell Kuc said the woman driving the car, who was not injured, was also checked by paramedics.
While no citations were issued, Kuc said the car driver is automatically at fault since her vehicle struck a bus stopped at a traffic signal.
