South Hadley sophomore sprinter Jonas Clarke took second in the 55-meter dash in 6.61 seconds at the Division 5 state championships Wednesday in Boston, qualifying for the all-state meet. He also was 25th in the long jump (17-2.75).
The top three in each event at all divisional state meets automatically qualify for the all-state meet along with the next nine best performances.
Bradyn Cote finished fifth in the mile (4:35.88) for the Tigers, while Luke Petrosky placed eighth in the 1,000 (2:42.84).
South Hadley’s boys 4×800-meter relay finished fifth in 8:36.63, while their 4×4 took seventh (3:45.09).
On the girls side, the Tigers were fourth as a team.
Jocelyne Rondeau qualified for all-states by placing third in the 1,000 (3:05.39). Savannah Sudyka was third in the shot put at 36 feet, two inches and will compete at the all-state meet.
South Hadley’s 4×4 (4:16.7) and 4×8 (10:23.32) relays also made the all-state cut in third. They placed ninth in the 4×2 (1:53.19).
Lindsay Marjanski cleared five feet in the high jump and placed fourth.
Farrell Dawson was fifth in the 600 (1:41.81).
