Kiley Anderson scored six goals, while Haley Connaughton added three goals and three assists as the UMass women’s lacrosse team whipped Bryant, 24-4, in both teams’ season opener, Friday in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
Hannah Palau added four goals and one assists. Cassidy Doster had three goals.
Meghan McCarthy, of Northampton, caused one turnover and won three draws for the Bulldogs.
UMass scored the first 10 goals and led 17-3 at halftime.
Kansas 4, UMass 2; LIU Brooklyn 9, UMass 5 (8) — Kaitlyn Stavinoha and Kaycee Carbone each picked up five hits and scored a pair of runs, but the Minutewomen dropped their season-opening doubleheader in the Diamond 9 Citrus Blossom in Orlando, Florida.
Amherst 4, Williams 3 (OT) — Phil Johansson (two assists) scored at 2:03 of overtime to seal the win for the Mammoths (12-6-4, 9-4-4 NESCAC) at Orr Rink.
Stephen Rex (assist) scored twice, while Sean Wrenn (two assists) added a goal apiece in the win.
