EASTHAMPTON — Two New York men were arraigned on larceny and other charges in Northampton District Court Tuesday.

Andrew Fearon, 19, of Brooklyn, was charged with failure to stop for police, open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, larceny over $1,200 and misleading a police officer.

Rashawn Malik, 20, also of Brooklyn, was charged with larceny over $1,200.

Easthampton Police said that they received a report Monday at around 5:15 p.m. of a shoplifting suspect matching Malik’s description leaving the CVS in Easthampton and entering a gray sedan with New Jersey plates in the McDonald’s parking lot across the street.

When Easthampton police attempted to pull the car over, police allege that it sped away before turning onto Industrial Parkway, a dead-end street, where it was boxed in. Police said that the driver ended up dumping a bag out the window containing numerous over-the-counter medications.

Easthampton Police also said that they heard chatter over the radio from the Northampton Police Department that they were searching for a suspect matching Malik’s description in connection with a larceny from the Northampton CVS.

Northampton police say that an estimated $700 worth of over-the-counter medication was stolen from the Northampton CVS. The log says the call came in Monday at 5:04 p.m.

Police say that the men failed to comply with instructions until a K-9 unit got involved.

The men were subsequently arrested. Fearon was the alleged driver, while Malik allegedly stole items from the two CVS stores.

Police allege that the men were found with nearly $3,200 in stolen over-the-counter medications.
