NORTHAMPTON – Police arrested a Holyoke man on Wednesday for allegedly breaking into a Main Street business and stealing cash.
Adrian Macedo, 23, was arrested for vandalizing property, breaking and entering into a building in the nighttime with the intent to commit a felony, larceny from a building and breaking into a depository.
Police said they a report at around 12:15 a.m. that someone had broken the door of a business on Main Street.
Police say an officer observed a male with short dark hair walk out of Pennylane at 141 Main St. The officer then allegedly went over to the business and found the glass on the door had been shattered. Macedo was allegedly located on the parking deck of the police station off Center Street. Macedo was then stopped on Center Street where he was found with a roll of quarters, cuts on his left hand and loose bills.
Police say they believe the money came from Pennylane. They also say that surveillance footage shows Macedo breaking an arm of the security gate located on the parking deck.
After his arrest, police allege that Macedo began kicking the rear window of a police cruiser repeatedly, after which he was pepper sprayed.
Police say that after Macedo’s arrest they went to Pennylane and found that a cash register was broken into and the shattered door glass.
