Chris Connoly had three goals and three assists, as the UMass men’s lacrosse team beat Brown 14-7 at home Saturday for its fifth win in a row.
Gabriel Procyk added a hat trick with three goals, while Kevin Tobin and Jeff Trainer had two goals and an assist each.
Billy Philpott found the net twice, and Devin Spencer added two assists.
Sean Sconone made 16 saves and picked up the win, while Cameron Carpenter stopped a shot for the Minutemen (6-3).
Amherst 20, Hamilton 8 — Evan Wolf amassed five goals and three assists, while PJ Clementi had two goals and five assists for the Mammoths on Saturday.
Jack Norton added a hat trick. Trenton Shore, Jon Coffey and Brogan Mahon had two goals each for Amherst (7-0, 3-0 NESCAC).
Chad Simons saved 17 shots.
UMass 5, St. Bonaventure 1; UMass 5, St. Bonaventure 4 — Kaycee Carbone had a hit and three RBIs across a Sunday doubleheader sweep. Hannah Bunker had three hits and an RBI in Game 1, while Erin Stacevicz added two hits and two RBIs in Game 2 for the Minutewomen (12-13, 2-0 A-10).
Coast Guard 9, Smith 8; Coast Guard 16, Smith 4 (5) — Jocelyn Esquer tallied two hits and six RBIs on Sunday, but the Pioneers (3-9, 0-2 NEWMAC) lost two.
Wheaton 14, Mount Holyoke 8 — Northampton grad Abby Baldwin scored six goals, but Mount Holyoke (4-3, 0-1 NEWMAC) fell on the road Saturday. Caroline Flynn had two goals and an assist.
Amherst Regional graduate Meg Sharick grabbed two ground balls and caused two turnovers for Wheaton.
Smith 10, Coast Guard 9 (OT) — Maddie Ryan scored the winner from a free position shot with 4 minutes, 15 seconds left in OT on Saturday. She had a hat trick.
Bryn Murray added two goals and two assists, while Bella Ferraro scored twice.
Northampton grad Emily Biggs found the net for the Pioneers (6-1, 1-0 NEWMAC).
Alyssa Schams made nine saves.
UMass 22, VCU 14 — Stephanie Croke had five goals and three assists, while Kaitlyn Ceriasi added five goals and two assists Sunday. Haley Connaughton scored three goals with an assist for the Minutewomen (7-3, 2-0 A-10), and Kiley Anerson had two goals and two assists.
Emma Dotsikas and Olivia Muscella each found the net twice, and Kelly Mara added a goal and an assist.
Lauren Hiller had four saves, and Gina Carroll sopped three shots.
Amherst 13, Hamilton 10 — Isabelle Sennet found the net six times in a home win Sunday. Claire Dunbar had four goals and an assist for the Mammoths (5-1, 2-1 NESCAC). Hannah Fox added two goals and two assists. Talia Land stopped 12 shots.
VCU 7, UMass 2; VCU 3, UMass 1 — Nolan Kessinger had three hits, while Logan Greene and Ryan Lever had RBIs, as the Minutewomen (4-12, 0-3 A-10) lost both games in their weekend series.
Amherst 21, Dean 14 — Severino Simeone and Daniel Qin homered in a Sunday victory. Qin had four hits and five RBIs, while Simeone had three hits and three RBIs.
Joseph Palmo added four hits, and Stephen Burke drove in four runs on three hits for the Mammoths (6-3).
NCAA Division III championships — Amherst College’s Bennett Fagan finished fifth in the three-meter diving event with 531.9 points.
Sean Mebust was fifth in the men’s 200-yard breaststroke (1:58.92) for the Mammoths.
Nina Fitzgerald took seventh in the women’s 200 breaststroke (2:18.09) for Amherst.
The Mammoths’ men’s 400 freestyle relay team of Jack Koravos, Eric Wong, Charles Seltzer and Scott Romeyn placed 11th (3:01.47).
Amherst’s Bridgitt Kwong took 13th in the women’s 200 backstroke (2:02.32).
Romeyn placed 15th in the men’s 100 free (45.08).
Amherst was ninth in the men’s team standings with 149.5 points. Denison won with 562.5. On the women’s side, the Mammoths were eighth (129), as Emory captured the team title (488).
NCAA Division I championships — Northampton graduate Erin Voss finished fourth in the 200 backstroke for Stanford. She hit the wall in 1:50.92. Wisconsin’s Beata Nelson win in 1:47.24, an NCAA record.
