Eddy Hart had three hits and an RBI, as the UMass baseball team beat Boston College 6-2 in the opening round of the Beanpot semifinals Tuesday in Brighton.
It was the Minutemen’s first victory over BC since 2013, ending a run of seven games.
UMass (6-15) advances to the Beanpot championship for the first time since 2015. The Minutemen will face either Harvard for the title April 17.
Ryan Lever drove in two runs and singled.
Collin Shaprio had two hits, including a double.
Brad Collins earned the win in relief, striking out two in 3⅔ innings of relief.
Amherst 6, Roger Williams 3 — Daniel Qin drove in two runs in a home win.
Nick Nardone had three hits and an RBI, while Stephen Burke (RBI) and Severino Simeone both singled twice.
The Mammoths (8-6) allowed no runs in the final six innings.
Smith 7, Westfield State 1; Smith 11, Westfield State 7 — Alyssa Pioggia totaled four hits and six RBIs, as the Pioneers swept a doubleheader.
Emma Kraus drove in two runs in each game for Smith (6-12).
In Game 2, Frontier Regional grad Sarah Meunier hit a three-run homer in the second inning.
Wheaton 6, Mount Holyoke 3 — Catherine Peabody beat Miriam Galindo Cerrada 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 at No. 3 singles. She also teamed with Annissa Aamoum at No. 2 doubles for an 8-2 win over Isabelle Garvanne and Allison Burton.
Babson 9, Smith 0 — Allison Ahern won four games at No. 1 singles but fell 6-1, 6-3 against Carolina Merz.
