The Hands All Around 17th Biennial Quilt show — featuring over 225 quilts from 91 artisans as well as 16 historic quilts from the Jane P. Fitzpatrick collection of Hancock Shaker Village in Pittsfield — will be held at the UMass Campus Center on April 6 and 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Adults $10; 12 and under free; students and military $5.

The Hands Across the Valley Quilters Guild began in 1983 with 10 members to share the art and knowledge of quilting and now includes over 140 members. The guild explores, teaches and encourages the new ideas and techniques of the quilting arts; and at the same time, keeps the art alive.

Resources include monthly meetings, classes, speakers and field trips. Community project weekends and workshops result in quilts for the Fisher House and Cooley Dickinson Hospice programs, Golden Opportunities, elderly shut-ins, Womenshelter and NELQUILT. Pillowcases are given to The Garden: A Center for Grieving Children and Teens.
