NORTHAMPTON — Western Massachusetts is in for some rough weather.
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the region, which is expected to see heavy winds and flood watches Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning.

A wind advisory is in effect from 1 p.m. on Monday until 8 a.m. on Tuesday across Franklin, Hampshire and Hampden counties. The wind is expected to blow strongest from mid-afternoon through the night, with gusts as high as 50 mph.
“Winds this strong are capable of downing small tree limbs and branches, possibly causing isolated power outages,” the advisory reads. “Driving can also be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.”
A flood watch will also come into effect on Monday afternoon along the Connecticut River, including in Northampton and Montague. The flooding is expected to possibly occur late Monday, with minor flooding by Tuesday morning.

“Forecast rainfall overnight through Monday afternoon along with snowmelt in the upper reaches of the Connecticut will bring river rises approaching action stage across the lower Connecticut River,” reads the advisory.
The flood watch will continue in Northampton through late Tuesday night.
