Hampshire Regional eighth grader Jocelyn Mettey threw her second no-hitter of the season Thursday, shutting down the East Longmeadow softball team in a 9-0 win in Westhampton. She struck out 13. Only a walk in the fifth kept her from a perfect game.

โ€œSheโ€™s definitely a gamer. Sheโ€™s always asking what the batting order is,โ€ Hampshire Regional coach Bryan McGan said. โ€œSheโ€™s in tune with the game. The key for her is sheโ€™s hitting her spots.โ€

Hannah Marney went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and scored a run for the Raiders (6-1, 4-0 Valley Wheel).

Maggie Rubeck singled twice and drove in two runs.

Hopkins Academy 19, Smith Academy 5 (5) โ€” Olivia Brighenti was 4-for-4 with a triple and a double, driving in four runs and scoring three more for the Golden Hawks. Izzy Palmisano doubled, singled and had two RBIs with three runs scored.

Kelsey Bushey was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and scored two runs for Hopkins Academy (4-1, 1-1 Bi-County West).

Abby Pederson singled twice for the Falcons (2-3, 1-3).

Turners Falls 17, Frontier Regional 6 โ€” Charlotte Doulette homered twice and drove in four runs on a four-hit day, but the Red Hawks fell at home.

Olivia Vecellio singled twice, and Natalie Denkiewicz scored two runs for Frontier (5-2, 2-1 Franklin).

Ludlow 7, Belchertown 2 โ€” Emma LeBlanc had two hits, an RBI and scored a run for the Orioles (1-4, 0-1 Suburban).

Holyoke 13, South Hadley 12 โ€” Sarah Bisson (two runs), Maddie Fontaine (three runs) and Karlee Zuhusky (two runs) each had two hits for the Tigers (0-5, 0-1 Suburban) at the Beachgrounds.

Baseball

Hampshire Regional 8, St. Mary 4 โ€” Jake Constantine (three hits) had two doubles and two RBIs, as the Raiders won for the first time this season.

The Saints took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the fifth, but Hampshire (1-4) tied the game in the top of the sixth and scored three runs in the top of the seventh. Jake Vishaway and Greg Sarna-McCarthy added two hits each.

Jacob Labrie and Luke Gaida each had an RBI.

Northampton 1, Holyoke 0 โ€” In his first varsity start, sophomore Will Shaw allowed one hit, struck out seven, walked five and induced seven pop ups for the Blue Devils.

โ€œHe was on their hands all day,โ€ Northampton coach Mark Baldwin said.

Jackson Heath (2-for-3, double) led off the bottom of the sixth with a single for the Blue Devils (2-5, 1-0 Valley Wheel). Noah Brink sacrifice bunted him over to second. Jack Power (two singles) grounded out but moved Heath to third. Jake Brittain drove him in with a single to left field.

Dillon Diemand made a diving stop at third base in the fifth inning that prevented a run when Holyoke had a hit-and-run called.

Northampton snapped a five-game losing streak.

Hopkins Academy 3, Greenfield 2 (9) โ€” Jack Feltovic threw a complete game and struck out five. He allowed just seven hits and two runs with zero walks in nine innings.

Thea Hanscom (2-for-4, RBI) singled with one out in the top of the ninth. Chris Mushinski (2-for-3) bunted her to second, and she went to third on a Braeden Tudryn single. A walk loaded the bases. Liam Higgins (2-for-5, RBI) singled to send Hanscom home and give the Golden Hawks (5-2, 1-0 Hampshire West) the lead. Turdryn was thrown out at the plate going for a second run.

Greenfield put a runner on third with no outs in the bottom of the ninth, but the Green Wave flew out to shallow center, grounded to the shortstop and Feltovic struck out the final batter.

Amherst Regional 6, Longmeadow 2 โ€” Alex Irizzary singled three times, drove in three runs and scored a run, as the Hurricanes gave the Lancers their first loss.

Evan Hu (run, RBI), Justin Masteralexis (RBI), Luke Leonard and Eli Kayser-Hirsh all had two hits.

Masteralexis also picked up the save for Amherst (3-3, 1-1 Valley).

Turners Falls 10, South Hadley 9 โ€” Nick Cirone drove in three runs and had two hits for the Tigers. Aidan Sullivan (three runs), Tyler Evans and Max Garvin (two runs) each singled twice. Gauge Provost, John Sherwood and Sean Doherty each had an RBI for South Hadley (0-6, 0-1 Hampshire West).

Frontier Regional 8, Athol 2 โ€” Garret DeForest drove in three runs for the Red Hawks.

Kiernan Freeman (RBI, two stolen bases) singled twice. Bryan Baumann and Kalen Evans each drove in a run for Frontier (4-1).

Pioneer Regional 6, Smith Academy 5 โ€” Colin Ferrara (two hits) and Owen Baranoski had two RBIs each for the Falcons. Carter Woodward singled twice for Smith Academy (1-4, 0-1 Hampshire East).

Girls lacrosse

Westfield 15, South Hadley 7 โ€” Hannah Bisson, Breann Foley (assist) and Bridget Sears (two assists) each scored two goals for the Tigers.

Abby Hartley found the net, and Brooke Blair had an assist for South Hadley (0-6, 0-6 Valley). Allyson Cote made nine saves.

Amherst Regional 19, Pope Francis 15 โ€” Tรฉa LaRaja scored eight times, won five draw controls and picked up seven ground balls.

Zora Dallman had three goals, four assists, 11 draw controls and 14 ground balls.

Rachel Kawall added four goals and an assist, while Malina Kern picked up a hat trick for the Hurricanes (2-4). Taiya Anaya scored once.

Cleo Hein made nine saves.

East Longmeadow 15, Northampton 3 โ€” Shea Crowther scored twice in a road loss. Emma Kellogg added an assist, and Kate Sullivan found the net for the Blue Devils (0-7, 0-1 Valley Wheel). Gabby Adorno stopped 10 shots.

Boys ultimate

Northampton 15, Longmeadow 1 โ€” Asa Thompson made three goals and five defenses.

Kaleb Zuckerman added four assists, while Ben DeLaCour, Leon Grossman (two defenses) and Soren Foscher had two each. Zack Frenier scored two goals. Hayden Feldscher defended three passes, and Riley Cirincione-Lynch stopped two.
