The origins of margaritas vary, but I really like the story of Margarita Sames. To cut the heat of a hot Acapulco afternoon, Margarita swirled together tequila, lime juice and Cointreau, a premium full-bodied orange liqueur. Supposedly her guests liked the concoction so much that her party kept going for two weeks afterward.

Classic Margaritas

2 ounces of white tequila

1 ounce Cointreau or Triple Sec

1 ounce lime juice

Splash of Orange Curacao (optional)

Add crushed ice and shake well. Rim the outside of a glass with a lime wedge, and then twist in kosher salt. Strain mixture over ice.
