Northampton’s boys distance medley relay finished first at the Weston Twilight Invitational on Saturday, crossing the line in 11 minutes, 7.7 seconds.
Amherst Regional’s Julia Hopley took first in the girls 2,000-meter steeplechase (7:21.1). South Hadley’s Jacob Poirer was 23rd (7:07.3).
Kai Bailin placed first in the boys 400 hurdles for the Hurricanes (54.02).
South Hadley’s Savannah Sudyka won the girls shot put with a throw of 36 feet, 3.75 inches.
Ethan Cooper was second for the Blue Devils in the boys 400 (49.73), closely followed by his teammate Cole Lavalle in fourth (50-01). Lavalle also placed eighth in the 200 (22.73).
Northampton’s Ben Gordon Sniffen finished second in the boys 800 (1:53.93).
South Hadley’s girls sprint medley relay took second (4:18.58). The Hurricanes finished fifth (4:23.19), and Northampton placed seventh (4:26.71)
Benjamin Raivel cleared 11-6 to finish third in the boys pole vault.
Lindsay Marjanksi was fourth in the girls high jump, clearing 5-4.
Tobias L’esperance took fifth in the boys 2,000 steeplechase in 6:29.05 for the Blue Devils.
The Hurricanes finished fifth in the girls sprint medley relay (4:23.19), and Northampton placed seventh (4:26.71)
Amherst placed sixth in the boys spint medley relay (3:40.99).
Northampton was ninth in the boys 4×200 (1:38.22).
Amherst’s Sophia Jacobs-Townsley took ninth in the girls mile (5:07.5), and Mary Yount was 10th for the Blue Devils (5:09.74).
Northampton’s girls distance medley relay took second in 13:24.55.
Emma Harder took ninth in the girls 100 (12.96) and 200 (26.54) for Northampton. Paige Marjanski was 11th in the 200 for South Hadley (26.89).
Farrell Dawson placed 10th for the Tigers in the 400 (1:00.68).
The Blue Devils were ninth in the girls 4×200 (1:55.92).
Aidan Shea finished 15h in the boys mile (4:28.69).
MSTCA Freshman Sophomore Invitational — South Hadley freshman Jonas Clarke won the boys 100, setting a meet record in 11.02 seconds. He also set the meet record in the 200, winning in 22.75 seconds.
Darius Robinson of Amherst placed second in the boys long jump (20-4.25) and triple jump (40-11).
Hampshire Regional’s Brianne Salomao was third in the girls triple jump (33-4.5) and fifth in the girls long jump (15-7).
Max McCurdy of South Hadley finished fifth in the boys 800 (2:10.07), and Amherst’s Jackson Hinkel was right behind him in sixth (2:11.39).
Amherst’s Anajisa Robinson took sixth in the girls 200 (27.49).
Hampshire Regionals Gulian Marconi placed seventh in the boys 400 (55.0).
The Raiders’ Zach O’Connell shot put 35-1.5 to place ninth.
West Springfield 4, Hampshire Regional 1 — Mike Baldwin had an RBI single Saturday at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.
Gret Sarna McCarthy singled and took the loss, striking out three. He allowed six hits and four runs for the Raiders (1-6).
Taconic 15, Smith Academy 0 — Aidan Peerson doubled for the Falcons (1-7) on Saturday. Daniel Cavanaugh singled twice, and Sam Dadmun had a single.
Pittsfield 14, Northampton 0 (5) — Maya Williams and Katelyn Ramdath each singled Saturday for the Blue Devils (4-7).
Minnechaug 1, Hampshire Regional 0 — Jocelyn Mettey and Katelyn Labrie singled Saturday for the Raiders (7-2), who allowed the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
Mettey struck out five, allowing one walk and six hits.
Minnechaug 13, South Hadley 10 — Liam Dawson had four goals Saturday, as the Tigers (3-5, 0-3 Valley Wheel) fell at home. Mike Senecal added a hat trick, and Hunter Borowski distributed two assists. Hunter Carey and Ryan Levrault added a goal each.
Anthony Cigal made 11 saves. Jacey Rondeau stopped two shots.
Minnechaug 17, Northampton 2 — Shea Crowther and Ellie Mahoney found the net Sunday for the Blue Devils (1-10, 0-3 Valley Wheel).
Four Rivers Tournament — The Blue Devils fell in their opening game 13-9 against host Four Rivers then won their next three games 12-5 over Deerfield, 10-8 against Needham and 13-9 over Concord-Carlisle.
Zack Frenier led the way with 10 goals, four assists and four defenses.
Clem Fisher distributed eight assists and scored four goals.
Riley Cirnicione-Lynch defended five passes.
