SUNDERLAND — Residents voted to allow a Proposition 2½ tax override at Saturday’s town election.

The question — the only one on the ballot — asked if the town could assess an additional $200,000 in real estate and personal property taxes to fund the town’s operating budgets and public schools for the next fiscal year, which begins July 1.

An $8,564,902 million budget was passed last Friday but was contingent on the Proposition 2½ override passing.

There were 272 “Yes” votes and 208 “No” votes with eight blanks.

The election Saturday also saw 14 municipal seats filled, none of which were contested.

The following candidates won their seats: incumbent Michael A. Wissemann, moderator, one year; incumbent David J. Pierce, selectman, three years; incumbent James Kowaleck, assessor, three years; incumbent Caitlyn Ann Rock, Board of Health, three years; Jessica C. Corwin, Sunderland Elementary School Committee, three years; incumbent Judith L. Pierce, Frontier Regional School Committee, three years; incumbent Wendy M. Houle, town clerk, three years; Stephen M.
