Abby McClaflin reached home on a wild pitch in the third inning, giving the Easthampton softball team the winning run in a 2-1 victory at Ludlow Monday that qualified the Eagles for the postseason.
McClaflin singled with two outs then stole second. McClaflin went to third on an Emma Downer single, setting her up to swipe home.
Lauren Morse put the Eagles (10-0, 3-0 Suburban) ahead 1-0 with a homer in the first inning.
Rachael Robinson struck out 14, allowing just three hits and one walk.
Tessa Pond singled twice for Easthampton, which moved into sole possession of first place in the Suburban League.
Granby 11, Putnam 5 โ The Rams jumped out to an 11-0 lead behind extra-base hits from Kaeleigh Croteau and Lindsey Wenzel.
Wenzel had a two-run homer in the first inning. Croteau (2-for-4, four RBIs) had a bases-clearing double in a six-run fourth.
Paige Parlengas had a two-run single for Granby (2-5).
Wenzel struck out nine and worked around eight walks and four hits.
Belchertown 17, South Hadley 1 โ Gina Camerota finished with four hits and four RBIs, while Allison Cote drove in three runs on four hits for the Orioles.
Emma LeBlanc singled and drove in two runs. Delaney OโBrien and Olivia Plate had two hits and an RBI each. Hannah Wood (RBI) and Danae Weldon both singled for Belchertown (3-6, 2-1 Suburban).
Joelle Ouimette allowed just two hits and a run, striking out five with five walks.
Caroline Matheson had an RBI single, scoring Sarah Bisson, and Vanessa Plamondon singled for the Tigers (0-8, 0-3).
Hopkins Academy 11, Palmer 8 โ Kelsey Bushey was 4-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored as the Golden Hawks (7-1) held off the stubborn Panthers (2-7) on the road.
Palmer led 2-1 after the second innings and tied it at 4-4 after three and 5-5 after four.
Alli Markowski (double) and Olivia Brighenti (triple, three runs) were each 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.
Maegan Quinlan had two hits and double. Markowski earned the win with four innings in relief of Quinlan.
Greenfield 14, Frontier Regional 5 โ Olivia Dean drove in two runs on two hits, while Lily Spencer singled three times and had an RBI.
Olivia Vecellio had two hits and scored a run. Charlotte Doulette launched an RBI double for the Red Hawks (8-3, 4-2 Franklin).
Gateway 12, Pathfinder 10 โ Kaitlyn Quinn singled three times and scored once for the Gators, who survived a late charge from Pathfinder to win its fourth game in a row. Nicole Hannigan had two hits and two runs scored. Lilyan Ryan touched home three times for Gateway (7-3, 7-1 Tri-County).
Central 9, Smith Academy 7 โ Taeghan Cavanaugh and Karlie Guimond each singled twice and scored a run for the Falcons (4-4). Erin Gilrein had an RBI triple.
Minnechaug 11, Northampton 2 โ Jake Delisle assisted both of the Blue Devilsโ goals. Jay Mahoney and Ben Gomes-Rapoza scored.
Jonathan Marshall stopped 15 shots for Northampton (2-7, 0-4 Valley Wheel).
St. Mary 11, Pathfinder 1 โ Aaron Blanchard scored seven times and added an assist. Edward Towards found the net twice and distributed two assists, while Evan Ploof had two assists. Joe Walz and Byron Dudas each scored once for the Saints (2-5, 1-0 Suburban), and Matt Thayer had an assist. Jeramy Hoar saved three shots, Griffin Wheelock stopped two and Collin Ramos made five saves.
Amherst Regional 10, Chicopee 3 โ Pierre Tilus scored three goals, while Dimitris Son and Tyler Borrell (three assists) each had two as the Hurricanes (2-6, 2-3 Valley League) cruised on the road.
Justin Guaytanof, Sam James and Dominic MacDonald each had one tally. Will Borrell added one assist.
Amherst Regional 15, Chicopee 1 โ Tรฉa LaRaja tallied four goals and an assist, Rachel Kawall added three goals and two assists and Zora Dallman contributed two goals and three assists to the Hurricanesโ win.
Malina Kern found the net four times for Amherst (3-7). Emily Ireland and Caitlin MacDougall scored a goal each. Cleo Hein stopped four shots.
Commerce 3, Smith Vocational 0 โ Lukas Sturtevant fired four aces in a 25-15, 25-13, 25-22 loss.
Tyler Top added three aces, two digs and two kills for the Vikings (1-8, 1-4 South).
Aman Ruhe picked up three digs and two kills. Trevonte Moore and Devin Hall had two digs each, and Tyrese Cordova added two kills.
