Belchertown’s second doubles team of Ian Roche and Sam Rogalewski won a third-set tiebreaker to clinch a 3-2 win over the Northampton boys tennis team at JFK Middle School, Wednesday.
They beat Gabe Brodeur and Noah Aronstein 6-4, 1-6, 6-6 (7-4).
The Orioles leaned on their doubles teams. Korey Houle and Colby Masse took down Asa Geller and Aidan Sugrue 6-2, 6-2.
At No. 3 singles, Ben Schrenzel beat Chris Raphael-Reily 6-2, 1-6, 6-3.
Northampton’s Stefan Johnson bested Max Caron 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and Aiden O’Brien won 6-2, 6-1 against Joshua Tan at No. 2 singles.
Belchertown (9-3), which need one more win to qualify for the postseason, faces South Hadley in a rematch of the Western Massachusetts championship at 6 p.m. Thursday.
