UMass took home a pair of championships on Day 1 of the New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Junior Jada Harris won the women’s high jump at 5 feet, 7¼ inches at Southern Connecticut State in New Haven.
Junior Kendall Westhoff won the men’s 10,000-meter in 31 minutes, 14.04 second sat Southern Connecticut State in New Haven.
The meet continues Saturday.
Rhode Island 5, UMass 3 — Logan Green (2-for-3) hit a two-run homer and Eddy Hart had two hits but the Minutemen (17-23, 8-10 Atlantic 10) fell on the road.
Justin Lasko struck out five, walked one and allowed four earned runs on eight hits over seven innings for the loss.
