As a mother of two children in the Northampton school system, I have only praise for the teachers and professionals who work with our students all year.
Our schools are viable, inclusive, and academically rigorous thanks to the hard work and amazing people who teach our children every day. I hear this same sentiment echoed frequently by other parents, as well as people in the community.
I urge Mayor David Narkewicz and other members of the School Committee to commit to the teachers request for a modest increase in wages, and fair and reasonable clarification of language in their contract. Our children need their teachers to be paid a fair wage and treated with respect they so deserve.
