NORTHAMPTON – A Holyoke man was arraigned in Hampshire Superior Court on Monday on charges related to allegedly plotting to distribute Buprenorphine in the Hampshire County Jail last November. 

Edward Gonzalez, 27, pleaded not guilty to charges of possession of Buprenorphine with intent to distribute, possession of a drug with intent to deliver to a prisoner, and conspiracy to violate the controlled substance laws. His bail was set at $500. 

Buprenorphine, an opioid, can be used to treat opioid addiction.

A co-defendant in the case, Sabel Perez, 37, of Indian Orchard, will be arraigned at a later date.
