NORTHAMPTON — Georgia-based company Surterra Wellness announced Friday the close of its acquisition of New England Treatment Access.
In addition to NETA, Surterra has cannabis operations in Nevada, Florida and Texas. Acquiring NETA, which has dispensaries in Northampton and Brookline and a growing and processing facility in Franklin, expands Surterra into the Massachusetts market.
Surterra now has more than 1,500 employees, including more than 700 from NETA. There are no plans to change NETA’s name at this time.
The deal was done as a cash and stock transaction, the exact terms of which have not been released to the public. NETA co-founder Kevin Fisher has also joined Surterra’s leadership as executive director of operations.
“This is an ideal partnership, because New England Treatment Access (NETA) and Surterra are perfectly aligned, sharing the same values and vision of providing the highest quality cannabis to our patients and our customers, the true beneficiaries of this relationship,” said Fisher, as part of a statement released to the Gazette. “With Surterra’s focus on health and wellness and NETA’s in research and innovation, compliance and diversity, we look forward to combining our collective talents to strengthen further our reputations as best-in-class in the cannabis industry.”
