GREENFIELD — Snow & Sons Landscaping has set up a crowdfunding campaign to aid the family of an employee who died of a heart attack driving north on Greenfield Road around noon Friday.

Scott L. DeLeo, 48, was operating a Snow & Sons pickup truck towing a trailer when he veered off the road and crashed into a wooden sign outside the Old Deerfield Country Store at 12:01 p.m. Emergency medical personnel’s attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful, and he died at Baystate Franklin Medical Center, according to his death notice in the Greenfield Recorder.

Kyle Snow, manager of Snow & Sons, created a GoFundMe account to enable people to donate money to help with the DeLeo family’s ongoing living expenses and to set up college funds for the victim’s two daughters.

“It still doesn’t seem real and the shock still hasn’t worn off. He was a huge part of our work family and will be missed dearly,” Snow wrote on the GoFundMe page and on his company’s Facebook account.

Both posts say Snow & Sons Landscaping will match the first $10,000 in donations.

Snow, whose father owns the company, also mentioned he plans to help organize a memorial golf tournament, also to benefit DeLeo’s family, for the fall. Snow said DeLeo was an avid golfer.

“We consider ourselves a family here. (DeLeo) was a huge part of that,” Snow said. “This is a pretty devastating blow to us as a group.”

Snow said DeLeo worked for the company since 2011, running a lawn care crew.
