I am one of the masses who is outraged by the glut of lawless, morally bankrupt actions of this president and Senate majority leader.

Where are the consequences for dereliction of duty? Being told to wait and vote at the end of 2020 is not enough! Recently, Donald Trump said on camera in the oval office that he would listen to โ€œoppoโ€ research from an adversarial country. His words were: โ€œthere is nothing wrong with listening.โ€

When reminded that the head of the FBI said they should be informed about foreign influence or interference in elections, Trump replied, โ€œThe FBI Director is wrong.โ€

Clearly, Trump does not respect his oath of office in which he swore to โ€œpreserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.โ€

Complicating matters, special counsel Robert Muellerโ€™s pronouncement that โ€œa president cannot be charged with a federal crime while he is in officeโ€ gives Trump carte blanche to ignore laws with impunity. Over 700 former federal prosecutors confirmed that the evidence in the Mueller report would justify charging Trump with multiple felonies.

Consequently, we are stuck with an outlaw president for another year and a half who will not hesitate to cheat and endanger our country to remain in office. Arrogantly, he refuses to comply with subpoenas from the House committees and directs former staff not to testify.

What recourse do we have? Despite all the evidence in the Mueller report, the House is not pursuing an impeachment investigation. Didnโ€™t they swear to support and defend the Constitution against enemies foreign and domestic?

Unfortunately, if the House draws up articles of impeachment, the Senate is not likely to do its job. Although swearing his oath of office five times, Senate Leader Mitch McConnell has maliciously blocked regular order of the Senate, trashing the constitution.

Sadly, oaths of office mean nothing if the people swearing them are self-serving, corrupt or morally bankrupt. Our country desperately needs those who feel bound by their oaths of office to rebuke those who abuse their power and would destroy our government for their own purposes.

Start the impeachment inquiry now!
