EASTHAMPTON — The Police Department has released details regarding a Monday stabbing.
On July 1, an adult male had called the department reporting that he had been stabbed by another person on Ferry Street, according to Sgt. Chad Alexander.
Alexander said the details the man was giving police were inconsistent after police had talked with him and began investigating the incident.
It was later discovered that the stab wound the man had was self-inflicted, he said..
“He thought if he were the victim of a crime he could get medical attention quicker and easier,” Alexander said.
According to a post on the Easthampton Police Department Facebook page by Police Chief Robert Alberti, the man was treated and was assisted in “getting the additional help that they needed.”
There is no danger to the public regarding the stabbing incident, according to the post.
