How can I be a better leader? My first city council term has been productive and engaging.

“Everyone’s voice will be heard,” has been the touchstone for my work. Even with successful ordinances, resolutions, and advocacy, opportunities remain for me to improve and to better serve my city. In my resolve to run for re-election, I feel even more committed to my primary mission and my foundation — listen, engage, open doors.

This is why throughout July and August and beyond, I am setting up listening sessions at locations all over Easthampton. I want to embody my belief that it is not the work I do as an elected official that makes me successful, it is our work together, all of us residents, that make us successful as a city. Listening, learning, and acting in accordance with our lessons and shared values.

If you have input about how our city of Easthampton can be more successful, please join me for listening sessions: Abandoned Building Brewery, July 11; Easthampton Diner, July 12; Water’s Fine Cafe, July 13; New City Brewery, July 18; Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters, July 19; Tandem Bagel, July 20; Brass Cat, July 25; Union Street Bistro, July 27; Luthier’s Co-Op, Aug. 1; CorselloButcheria, Aug. 3, and Sevens, Aug. 8. This series of events will culminate in a commitment ceremony and celebration at Abandoned Building Brewery on Aug. 22. Email owenforeasthampton@gmail.com, or on Facebook: Committee to Elect Owen Zaret to stay involved!
