Thank you very much for your in-depth July 2 article (“Q: What are kids learning in sex ed?”) on the state of sex education in our Valley, or rather, the lack of good sexual health education in the public school system.

As a Unitarian Society of Northampton and Florence (USNF) teacher of the Our Whole Lives (OWL) Sexual Health curriculum, I wanted to provide some more background and information about OWL and our upcoming classes.

Firstly, our next OWL classes for high school students (grades 10-12) start Saturday, Oct. 26, offered at USNF. This monthly session will run through March 2020.

There is a nominal fee, and anyone from the community is invited to join, regardless of affiliation at USNF.

The USNF is also very excited to offer an Older Adult OWL sexual health class. These monthly classes are slated to begin March 20, 2020, and will meet Friday afternoons at USNF.

Please contact our director of faith development and community engagement at dre@uunorthampton.org to enroll in either class, or for questions.
