Heat and hazard

This letter is addressed to the individual that had his dog tied to a “No Parking” sign at the corner of Market and Bridge recently. The dog did not have any shade and the temperature was over 90 degrees. When we stopped to see why this was happening, he was watching from inside the air-conditioned restaurant on the corner and indicated through the window that it was his dog. He came out and said the dog was OK, and that squirrels live outside on days this hot. Of course, this is a ridiculous comment. I did not see any squirrels on the sidewalk. When we told him that we were calling the police, he went back in and hurriedly got the rest of his meal to go and left. While this person is clearly an a*****e, so were the 20 or so people that just walked by the dog without doing anything.
