I agree strongly with NerissaNields’ plea for respect and courtesy toward all people. But I also side with those bothered by the jarringly ungrammatical “they/their” for an individual person. English does not need gendered pronouns at all. The Spanish language handles this gracefully with the simple ”su” for “his/hers/its” (although it has nothing comparable for “he/she/it”). Let’s come up with something similar to replace all of our gendered pronouns.
