I took an early morning walk at Mass Audubon’s Graves Farm Sanctuary on a recent morning. The loop at the sanctuary is very short, so it is a very quick walk, and it always surprises me how much the meadow at the entrance changes in character between the time I start and the time I end the walk. If you want variety when you’re outdoors, stay put and observe. As I was getting ready to leave, the light was perfect to bring out the beauty in this smooth brome. I was lucky: about two minutes after I made this photo, a good breeze kicked up and the grass began swaying like crazy, which would have made capturing an image much more difficult.
