It is annoying that so many non-elderly and people without infants come to the parks or nature areas and sit idling in their car for long periods of time doing phone work or awaiting someone perhaps.
It’s noisy and heats up the area near the car exhaust. I know people do this because they want to use heat or air conditioning, depending on the season, however, as someone who has been living in a car for 15 months with no heat and no air conditioning, I find this practice somewhat selfish and wimpy.
I do understand that certain people may have a valid need, but these are not the people who specifically come to a natural recreation area to use their car as a nice climate-controlled space with a view. I am often at the park and do not leave my car to swim or hike very much because I need to sleep or think or have peace or clean up the car and, if not too tired, get to my backed-up paperwork. But I never idle my car.
Maybe this is part of the TV addict and “scented means clean” culture that is so foreign and nonsensical, selfish and toxic to the well-being of everyone but the “offender.” Please consider turning your car off unless it is for an actual health reason.
