HADLEY — A car flipped onto its roof after being struck by another vehicle traveling at the edge of the Mountain Farms Mall parking lot Friday afternoon, according to Hadley Police Lt. Mitchell Kuc.

The drivers of both vehicles and one passenger suffered minor injuries in the crash, according to police. Police, firefighters and an Action EMS ambulance responded to the scene shortly before 1 p.m. near Wal-Mart.

Officers investigating determined that the driver of a 1998 Jeep Cherokee struck a parked car and while attempting to leave the scene at a high rate of speed, hit the 2019 Hyundai Tucson. The collision forced the Tucson sideways into a curb and then caused it to roll onto its roof, according to police.

The driver of the Jeep, identified as an 18-year-old Amherst woman, will be summoned to Eastern Hampshire District Court in Belchertown on a charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, Kuc said. He said the woman is not facing a charge for leaving the scene of a property damage accident since the parked vehicle had left the site.
