As the school year starts off, we can’t help but worry and wonder why there is no discussion or effort to have seatbelts on school buses.
We have three, possibly four, grandchildren taking the bus to and from school each day. These young children have never been allowed to ride in a car without being safely secured in a car seat and seatbelt. And then all of a sudden as kindergarteners and first graders they are riding to school without seatbelts.
This summer my family vacationed in a park where the shuttle buses all had seatbelts. We are wondering how to encourage discussion around this issue. Please don’t offer expense as the reason. We find this offensive when we are talking about children’s safety.
