GOSHEN — Following a manhunt that spanned from Friday into Saturday, a Connecticut man wanted on burglary and theft-related charges was arrested by Massachusetts State Police in Goshen.

Thomas Wojcik, 31, of Berlin, Connecticut, was captured and arrested as a fugitive from justice on warrant charges of burglary, robbery and larceny after he allegedly broke into a Goshen home.

State police began searching for Wojcik on Friday, after Goshen residents were “victimized by a string of recent housebreaks,” according to police.

Police captured Wojcik on the second floor of an Aberdeen Road home Saturday morning, police said, after a witness allegedly reported that a man fitting Wojcik’s description was heading from a previous home on Aberdeen Road that “appeared to have been burglarized” toward the second house.

Police responded to the second home with a K-9 just before 11 a.m., police said, and “set up a perimeter around the house, which was supposed to be unoccupied.”

Police approached the staircase, and an officer repeatedly ordered Wojcik to surrender, or he would release the K-9. Wojcik walked to the top of the stairs, police said, where officers took him into custody.

Wojcik was taken to Cooley Dickinson Hospital for evaluation and returned to State Police in Northampton, according to police. He will face charges in Connecticut.
