Route 9, Belchertown
I was walking my dogs by the light of a headlamp on a recent morning when I didn’t have to go to work. I let one dog drag me off the path to investigate a scent that intrigued her and as I waited, my headlamp caught the bright yellow of an evening primrose blossom. Part of the blossom was obscured, so I went closer to see what was going on. What a surprise to find two lovely moths resting on the blossom. Since my entomological background consists of an intro course in college decades ago, I resorted to the ever-patient people at bugguide.net to determine the species. These pink and white beauties are, quite logically, primrose moths.
