Location: Outside the student center at Smith

Who: A first year student at Smith

Hometown: “Right outside Montpelier, Vermont, a town of 1,800 people. It’s very rural. I live on a dirt road.”

Describe your style: “Very crunchy and outdoorsy, casual for sure. The Vermont style is in. It hasn’t always been in; it’s just fortunate for me! (At Smith) you can tell who’s from a city or not depending on how they dress.”

Walking the walk: “I work at the climbing gym. I hope to be an outdoor adventure trip leader next year. I’m on the Ultimate Frisbee team.”

Talking the talk: “This Nalgene design is from a campaign done by REI called Force of Nature which is about getting women outside and creating equity about outdoor activities. I think it’s super cool.”

L.L. Bean vs Patagonia?: “That’s a good question! I know I’m wearing both right now, but I like the business practices of Patagonia better, because of their environmental and sustainability initiatives. But I also like L.L. Bean because they are both durable and I like to buy clothes that are going to last a long time. But I’m definitely more Patagonia!”

L.L. Bean coming to the Valley: “I got the windbreaker for Christmas. They came to campus last week and everybody bought one!”
